Early Saturday, June 12th, 14 people were injured in a mass shooting in Downtown Austin’s Entertainment District. Of the 14, Douglas John Kantor, 25, died from gunshot wounds Sunday afternoon. This has caused much hysteria on 6th Street.

Both suspects – juveniles – are in custody. The Austin Police Department says Jeremiah Tabb, a 17-year-old high school student from Killeen, walked by another group of people with his friends on East 6th Street, exchanged some words, pulled out his gun, and started shooting. Two other people had guns and started shooting as well. Tabb had already shot one of the minors a few days prior on June 8th. The only information provided about the other suspect is that he is also a minor and in custody at Travis County Jail.

One newspaper, in particular, The Austin American-Statesmen, refused to give a description of the prime suspect in the shooting due to fear of causing stereotypes. The Austin Police Department described him as a black male with a skinny build.

Our prayers go out to the victims and victim’s families affected by this event.
