AUSTIN, TX— On the night of October 12th, UT Austin’s chapter of Turning Point USA hosted conservative activist Charlie Kirk as a part of his “Live Free” tour, in which Kirk speaks at colleges nationwide about conservative principles. One protestor, however, had different plans.
After he had spoken for about a minute, Kirk thanked the UT Austin administration for providing security and support for the event. At this point a heckler stood up and yelled that this was “because [the administration was] dumb”. The heckler continued to disrupt the event by yelling loudly until he was escorted away by security.
At this point the protestor, who has yet to be identified, allegedly vandalized UT property, and witnesses reported that he was escorted away in handcuffs by campus police.
Neither TPUSA nor UT Austin had responded to a request to comment at the time of publishing.
Kirk continued to speak about conservative principles, his views on American society, and what he described as the disastrous effects of lockdowns. He then proceeded to take questions from the audience, including from several self described leftists and socialists, without further incident.
