When the Texas House voted unanimously to expel State Representative Bryan Slaton, it left the citizens of Texas House District 2 (HD 2) unrepresented in the State Legislature. Now, Governor Abbott has called for a special election to take place to fill the void left by Slaton’s departure. Brent Money is one of the candidates running to fill that void.
Money is an attorney and former city councilman from Greenville, Texas. He is married to his wife Heidi, and they have five children.
In our discussion with Money, we discussed, among other things, what parental rights are, Money’s support for school choice legislation, and his thoughts on the impeachment of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Money is one of seven, current, candidates in the race for HD 2. The filing deadline for the race is September 6, 2023. Money joins Doug Roszhart, Jill Dutton, Heath Hyde, Kenneth Neal Barker, and Krista Schild as the Republicans in the race. Kristen Washington is the lone Democrat in the race.
Early voting begins on October 23, 2023. Election day is November 7, 2023.
